Manuscripts can be accepted for publication by Scandinavian Military Studies in one of three forms:
Common to all publications is that they have been subjected to quality assurance and evaluation by the editorial board.
Military operations, strategy, law of war, military management, military sociology and military history.
Research article -> secretariat ->editors -> peer review -> publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Military Studies
Practice-oriented article -> secretariat -> peer review -> publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Military Studies
Books – similar process to the journal articles, depending on the level. Books are published on the press website and as print on demand

APCs for journal articles and BPCs for books for accepted for publication after peer review are paid for by the institutions involved: The Centre for Military Studies, University of Copenhagen; the Norwegian Defence University College; and the Royal Danish Defence College.
It rests with the authors or their respective institutions to pay for language revision, where relevant.
